Leading Demopolis Forward

The City of Demopolis is governed by a Mayor and five elected City Council members who work together to serve residents, strengthen neighborhoods, and guide the city’s future. The Mayor serves a four-year term, while City Council members are elected on a staggered schedule of four-year terms. The City Clerk, appointed by the Mayor and Council, serves as the city’s chief administrator. Both the Mayor’s Office and City Clerk’s Office are located at City Hall.

Meet Mayor Woody Collins

Mayor Woody Collins is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Demopolis. A lifelong resident of the city, Collins has focused his administration on advancing economic development, improving city infrastructure, and strengthening code enforcement efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents and businesses alike.

Meet the Demopolis City Council

The Demopolis City Council is comprised of five elected members who represent districts throughout the city. Working alongside the Mayor, Council members help establish policies, approve budgets, and make decisions that support the growth, safety, and well-being of the community.

City Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 5:15 p.m. in Rooster Hall on Walnut Avenue. Meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend to stay informed and engaged in local government. For questions regarding City Council meetings, please contact the City Clerk’s Office.
